GENERAL INFORMATION

The Hematology Section performs approximately 100,000 test per year in the following disciplines:  Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, and Body Fluid Analysis.  Testing is performed both manually and using state-of-the-art automated equipment.

TESTS OFFERED

The main tests offered by Hematology are listed here.  Many of the tests are available on a STAT basis.

• Complete Blood Count (CBC) with Automated of Manual Differential

• Reticulocyte Count

• Body Fluid Cell Counts and Differentials

• Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR)

• Sickle Cell Screen

• Urinalysis with or without Microscopic Exam

• Pregnancy Test (urine or serum)

• Prothrombin Time (PT)

• Activated Partial Thromboplastine Time (aPTT)

• Fibrinogen

• Quantitative D-Dimer

• Bleeding Time

HOURS

The hours of operation are routinely 0730 to 1615 hours, Monday through Friday.  A laboratory technician or technologist is always on duty to perform necessary testing.
